The Bürgersolarpark was built on an area of 23 hectares. The photovoltaic power plant has a rated output of 9.7 megawatts and produces solar electricity for around 2,700 households. The plant was planned and built in the far north of Germany by the North Frisian power plant constructor GP JOULE (Reußenköge), who develops solar projects, wind power and biogas plants as well as innovative storage technologies. Citizens’ solar parks also enable private individuals who do not have their own roof or property to invest in photovoltaics. In Bosbüll, around 75 private, locally based shareholders have been won as investors for the Bürger-Solarpark. The participation was already possible from an investment sum of 1,000 euros.
