The Preetzer Bürger Energie Genossenschaft (PreBEG) would like to supply certain streets in Preetz with heat. Every owner of those streets can become a member of the cooperative. The heat is generated by solar energy and combustion of wood chips as well as a small amount of waste heat from a biogas plant (15%). It is generated from renewable energy sources and saves 3000 tons of carbon dioxide per year. So far, about 170 members are taking 62% of the heat produced and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 95%.
