4.8 SDV-A and MSV Control Logic

 

The reactor safety relief valves are installed on a high pressure ring on the main steam piping to protect the reactor from over-pressure conditions. These valves dump into the pressure suppression pools of the ACS. The two ring headers will be modeled together and connected to either end of the steam lines. To simplify the model, the high pressure ring header is not modeled and the MSVs are connected directly to the steam lines. Six MSVs are connected to the LHS of the steam line and 6 MSVs are connected to the RHS. The control logic for opening the MSVs is based on the average pressure at these two locations.
