26/10/2016 - Climate change impact assessment project KLIM-EKO seminar took place at LEI
|On 26th October, 2016, a seminar of a project Impact Assessment of Climate Change and Other Abiotic Environmental Factors on Aquatic Ecosystems (KLIM-EKO) took place at Lithuanian Energy Institute.
Project lead Dr. J. Kriaučiūnienė (Lithuanian Energy Institute) and representatives of project partners Prof. A. Povilaitis (Antanas Stulginskis University), Dr. T. Virbickas (Nature Research Centre) and Dr. L. Ložys (Nature Research Centre) introduced the concept of the project to Prof. Lars Rudstam (Cornell University, New York, USA), with whom ideas and experience on Ecological Forecasting were exchanged. The professor later gave a lecture "Ecological forecasting - predicting the future in an area of global change - examples from Obeida river" after which a discussion on how the experience of Cornell University researchers could benefit KLIM-EKO project took place.
The project is part of National Research Programme Sustainability of agro-, forest and water systems and is coordinated by the Laboratory of Hydrology of the Lithuanian Energy Institute in partnership with the Nature Research Centre, Vilnius University, and Aleksandras Stulginskis University.
