09/11/2016 - LEI representatives at EUROSAFE Forum
On 7-9 of November, 2016, Lithuanian Energy Institute's representatives - director Dr. S. Rimkevičius, Head of Nuclear Installation Safety Dr. E. Ušpuras and senior researcher G. Stankūnas took part in the EUROSAFE Forum and subsequent ETSON meeting sessions in Germany.
On November 7th, 2016, during the EUROSAFE Forum plenary session, representatives from ETSON, Belgium and Germany covered a broad array of topics, relating not only to Nuclear Safety, but as well touched topics of IT, Cyber Security, Civilian Aviation.
During ETSON Award Science Slam, in no more than seven minutes and showing a maximum of 4 slides, five junior expert scientists presented their work (including LEI representative's G. Stankūnas's presentation). A "TSO Cafe" networking event was organized in-between the Forum sessions, where TSO organizations presented their activities, exchanged contacts and information for cooperation. During the TSO Cafe event, LEI presented it's competence and capacities in nuclear energy research, as well as informational material on regional Horizon 2020 project BRILLIANT, coordinated by LEI.
On November 8th, EUROSAFE Forum organized 5 seminars:
* Nuclear Installation Safety – Assessment;
* Nuclear Installation Safety – Research;
* Waste Management and Decommissioning & Dismantling
(Chairpersons: Jörg Mönig (GRS), Sigitas Rimkevicius (LEI), Frank Lemy (Bel V);
* Radiation Protection, Environment and Emergency Preparedness;
* Security of Nuclear Installations and Materials.
On November 9th, LEI representatives attended ETSON General Assembly meeting, which took place in Garching Scientific Research Center at the GRS company, where ETSON activities, further development and an edition of Strategy document, as well as cooperation with IAEA were discussed.
During the Forum and assembly meetings, attendees familiarized themselves with latest developments and works carried out by European Technical Safety Organizations Network, ideas and cooperation proposals were exchanged between partner organizations.
