02/01/2017 - Klaipeda LNG terminal offers liquified natural gas reloading service to small-scale LNG tankers

On 2nd January 2017, Litgas, the gas trade arm of the state energy group Lietuvos Energija (Lithuanian Energy),
filled the first small-scale LNG tanker in the port of Klaipeda with liquefied natural gas.

Up to 15,000 cubic meters of LNG will be loaded onto the Coral Energy.

The Scandinavian natural gas supplier Skangass' Coral Energy, arrived in Klaipeda on January 2 and was the first small LNG tanker
loaded under an agreement signed last September by Litgas, Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas (Lithuanian Gas Supply) and Norway's

Liquified natural gas reloading service is a new type of activity for Lietuvos Energija Group, developed under the three-way
agreement, where Statoil sells LNG to small-scale supply buyers and Litgas and Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas provide modulation
and balancing services. This is a new type of service for Lithuania and the Baltic States – Klaipėda LNG terminal currently
is the only one that offers this type of service in the Baltic Sea.

It is estimated that each such transaction could net around 130 thousand Eur additional income for the
Klaipeda LNG terminal and port. Moreover this will help offset some of the technological maintenance costs.

Lithuanian Energy Institute is a member of a Liquified Natural Gas Cluster, and works closely with partners („Klaipėdos nafta“ AB,
„Vakarų laivų gamykla“ AB, Klaipėda University, Lietuvos aukštoji jūreivystės mokykla, Klaipėda Science and Technology Park,
Lithuanian Energy Institute, Klaipėda Free Economic Zone, and international partners "Emerson", "SGS" and Norwegian
company „DNV-GL“) providing scientific research and consultation services.

The Cluster aims to join science and business in a common goal to advance LNG use in the Baltic Sea region though applied knowledge and expertise.
