A kick-off meeting of H2020 programme project "EnergyKeeper" partners will be held at Lithuanian Energy Institute on 31st January, 2017. The aim of the meeting is to discuss the organization and future workflow of the project.

The aim of "EnergyKeeper" project is to develop an intelligent storage solution for renewable energy that takes advantage of  smart-grid technologies. The solution will be scalable towards community size (30-10.000 households) and their available renewable energy generation and storage capacities and aims to help optimize the demand and supply of energy in those communities. To achieve its aims the project focuses on R&D in 5 areas: energy storage, communication protocols and smart data exchange, distribution system management, demand side response, as well as development of business model between community and local and national renewable energy generation.

The international project consortium is coordinated by Lithuanian Energy Institute and comprises of 10 partners from Lithuania, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Israel, and is home to leading scientific research and technology companies like "Jenabatteries", "Pisga Software and Communication", "ICM Division Industrial", "Energy Team SP" among others.

The international consortium was granted funding for the project "EnergyKeeper" by the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme "Horizon 2020" under "LCE-01-2016-2017 - Next generation innovative technologies enabling smart grids, storage and energy system integration with increasing share of renewables: distribution network call. Lithuania is represented by two participants in the project consortium: Lithuanian Energy Institute and Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator "Litgrid".
