03/04/2019 - Lithuanian Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas paid visit to Lithuanian Energy Institute
| On the 3rd of April Lithuanian Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas while visiting Kaunas city paid visit to Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI). Here he visited LEI laboratories, got acquainted with conducted research and accomplished achievements.
The Minister also attended the industrial thematic workshop Highly Flexible Combined Heat, Power and Transport Fuel Production – Prospective Technology in our Energy Future, organized by LEI, Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT), “Enerstena” UAB and “Kauno energija” AB. During the workshop the activities and progress on EU Horizon 2020 programme project Flexible combined production of power, heat and transport fuels from renewable energy sources (FLEXCHX , http://www.flexchx.eu) were presented.
The workshop was opened by LEI director Dr. Sigitas Rimkevičius. The greeting speeches to workshop participants were given by Lithuanian Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas and Member of the Seimas, Chair for Commission for Energy and Sustainable Development Virgilijus Poderys.
The following project partners and seminar guests participated in the event and gave their presentations – Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT), the Lithuanian District Heating Association (LDHA), the manufacturer of oil products NESTE, the founders of chemical reactors INERATEC, and energy company HELEN.
The concept of FLEXCHX covers not only the gasification process, catalytic gas composition, electrolysis, fuel synthesis from biomass, but also the analysis of waste heat flow integration possibilities into innovative DH supply power plants.
