07-09/05/2019 - European communicators meet at LEI
|On May 7-9, 2019 the Lithuanian Energy Institute hosted a meeting of the H2020 project EUROfusion where the European communicators were invited. At the meeting best practices and ways to promote fusion research were discussed. One of the highlights was certainly the testing of one of the prototypes of the new traveling exhibition on fusion, which is planned to be displayed in European member states from next year onwards.
The participants learned about the protection of personal data taking into account the General Data Protection Regulation adopted by the European Commission in 2016. It was discussed how to distinguish between the personal data and the professional data, under which circumstances the image of the person could be used and how to ensure personal data protection. As the expert from the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council mentioned this topic still has many open questions and a lot more discussions will be needed on how to implement the requirements of regulations.
On the last day of the three-day meeting, the participants took part in a practical training given by the company “Guerilla Science”. The facilitators taught how to plan for engaging events. The training covered all steps from the definition of the target population to its evaluation after the event.
Deputy Director R. Urbonas presented the institute’s activities and handed over to the head of Research, Development and Innovation Transfer department, R. Levinskas, who guided the tour through the laboratories giving an inside into the very diverse research fields LEI covers.
