14/10/2019 - External scientific symposium of Association of Polish Electrical Engineers took place in Vilnius
An external scientific symposium dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers was hosted in Vilnius on 14 October 2019. The Lithuanian Energy Institute was one of the co-organizers of the symposium. The symposium was attended by Polish and Lithuanian electrical and non-electrical engineers and invited guests.
The goals of the symposium are well reflected by its title "Electrical enginneering traditions in Vilnius and proposals for cooperation between Polish and Lithuanian electrical engineers".
The symposium reviewed the achievements of energy specialists in electrification of Vilnius, payed homage to prominent scientists, engineers and activists who had significantly contributed to the development of science, technology, education and industry in the field of electrical engineering as well as discussed the possibilities of establishing a cooperation platform for Polish and Lithuanian electricians covering three areas: scientific, economic and collaboration on the level of associations.
The symposium was attended by LEI representative Arturas Klementavičius (member of the symposium program committee) who read a presentation (in Polish) " Evaluation of synchronous operation stability and energy trading prospects in Lithuanian-Polish interconnected area ". The leitmotif of this report - the interconnection of the power systems of both countries into joint synchronous work - has reflected the general willingness of symposium participants for joint work and activities in three aforementioned areas. During discussions, the Lithuanian Energy Institute was repeatedly mentioned as one of the potential initiators and participants of joint projects and actions.
It is fair to say that Association of Polish Electrical Engineers (President Piotr Szymczak) is a well-organized, solid professional group that promotes the achievements, reputation and international cooperation of electrical engineers, raises technical erudition, disseminates the experience and broadens the humanitarian horizon of the technical people. Lituanian participants of sympozium were pleasantly surprised by the Polish electrician's anthem played in the symposium, according to Adam Mickiewicz's (!) poem "Four Toasts" (1821), in which four forms of energy were toasted, the last of them being electricity.
