Main objective of the Researcher night 2011 is to enhancing public recognition of researchers and their work, through bringing public and researchers closer to one other, tackling the existing stereotypes about researchers by showing their “ordinary and human face”.

Specific objectives are: highlighting the importance of researcher work, not only for competitiveness and economic growth but also to the citizens daily life and well-being; underlining the European dimension of the event as well as the importance of European and international cooperation in; reinforcing links between citizens and research institutions, stress the importance of a two ways commination between them; contributing to convince more young people to embark on scientific careers through illustrating the fascinating aspects of research, and through witness from rural areas inhabitants who become researchers; pointing out the research results obtained in physics, nature sciences, psychology, and astronomy, energy, technologies, and marine research.
