Please be informed that as of October, 2021 the legal form of the Lithuanian Energy Institute is a Public Institution.

We would like to inform you that in accordance with the Government of the Republic of Lithuania September 22, 2021 Resolution No. 777 “On the Reorganization of the Lithuanian Energy Institute, Approval of the Statute of the Lithuanian Energy Institute, investment and transfer of state property under the State Property Trust Agreement” (link) Lithuanian Energy Institute (legal name is: Lietuvos energetikos institutas), located at Breslaujos str. 3, LT-44403 Kaunas, Lithuania (company code 111955219, data is collected and stored in the Register of Legal Entities, VAT no LT119552113), changed the legal form from the budget institution Lietuvos energetikos institutas to the public institution Lietuvos energetikos institutas. The public institution is owned by the Republic of Lithuania, the rights and obligations of ownership are held by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania.

Competition for additional admission to the doctoral studies 2021

The Lithuanian Energy Institute announces a competition for Additional Admission to a limited number of state-funded full-time doctoral studies in the fields of Energetics and Power Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Economics.

Applicants have to submit the documents via e-mail studijos@lei.lt or submit to Breslaujos st. 3, LT-44403 Kaunas, Lithuania, room AK-233. The paper version of documets will be asked when signing a study agreement.

Lithuanian Energy Institute invites active students who have obtained a master’s degree in mathematics, physics, chemistry, energy, thermal engineering, materials engineering, electrical engineering, mechanics, environmental engineering, natural sciences, economics to contribute to the goals of the European Green Deal and apply to doctoral studies in the fields of Energetics and Power Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Economics.

On 13 July the first LIFE Call for Proposals opened under the new LIFE programme 2021-2027, which comprises four sub-programmes: nature & biodiversity, circular economy and quality of life, climate change mitigation and adaptation and the clean energy transition.

Partner of the Lithuanian Energy Institute The University of Latvia offers PhD student position in the Latvian Council of Science #FLPPLV project “Biologically inspired models of active matter driven by electromagnetic field”. The candidate should hold a Master degree in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Mechanics or in similar disciplines. The position is planned for 36 months with an expected start in Autumn 2021. It has a gross salary starting from 1260 EUR/month.

Collaborative Doctoral Partnership between KTU, LEI and the JRC

PhD studies will be developed within the framework of the collaborative doctoral partnership between the Jo-int Research Center of the European Commission (JRC) and the Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI).

It is expected that the student will start and finish PhD studies at the Lithuanian Energy Institute and will spend a considerable part of the study (at least 12 months) at the JRC premises in Karlsruhe (Germany).

During this period the student will be paid according to the corresponding Grant Holder (GH) scheme[1][2]. Temporary employment contract covering the doctoral period of the candidate during the stay at JRC. This doctoral position covers a competitive salary for the research work carried out during this period.

The JRC will also nominate a topic advisor and will provide relevant data and access to the necessary research infrastructure –thus, the PhD student will be jointly supervised by LEI and JRC.

After successfully completing the PhD program conditions, the candidate will be awarded the doctoral degree by KTU.

CYSENI is an annual event aimed at young researchers and professionals from Europe and worldwide working in the fields of Energy, Physical and Environmental sciences.
